i know i've posted a question similar to this before, but what with all the newcomers here, i thought no harm to ask the question again.. what do you enjoy doing with your spare time and why?.

Meet friends for brunch or coffee. Heck, I don't even mind going by myself! There is a lot to see here in beautiful Oregon. When my two kids are not visiting their Dad, I bring them along as well. They enjoy just about anything we do.
Next would be hanging around a book store with a cup of coffee in my hand.
i just got back from the special one day asssembly.
i fell rejuvinated,revitilized and refreshed.....its the most sleep i've had in days!!!!!!!.

Ah yes, but wouldn't a nice comfy bed at home be much better to sleep on rather than the standard hard assembly chairs? Why even go?

Stay clear away from credit cards! Use only in dire emergencies, which is extremely rare!
Make this a habit and it's very easy not rely on them. I see way too many younger people getting caught up in using their credit cards for everything! This is a huge mistake. I'm 36 now and I have never felt like I've missed out on anything and I have everything my kids and I need.
Oh well...just a thought.
ok, so it's maby to be viewed as a minor irritation but annoying all the same.
i can't help getting peed off when i see tv programmes showing music clips and videos that were out when i was in!.
it makes me sad to think that i missed out on so much good stuff, when all the while i thought i was keeping myself "unspotted" by not having any part of the world!.
Quit dwelling on the past! It's time to move on!
You can live and enjoy life now! All the negative thoughts about all we missed growing up as JW kids just holds us back....one step forward, two steps back. There's a lot of life out there and we all need to discover it, enjoy it, and live it. We are no longer with the Org. so there is no need to fight and defend ourselves for just being human. We are free to breath freely! Don't waste it on the negative stuff.

do you worry about offending active witnesses?
I'm with a few of you here. I don't try to offend anybody just because I can....even a JW. I don't feel hatred towards anybody. I'm very open minded and I believe everybody has a right to say or feel as they please, and I respect that we are all different. If they happen to not agree with me...oh well, I can live with it. I'm my own person and I just as well let everyone be.
The only time I feel I would have to say something is if somebody or something is being hurt.
when i moved into my new house, i found that i was not the only new tenant.
a couple of newlywed scissortails had beaten me to residency by building a nest in an inside corner of my back patio.
they were rather distressed by my arrival, but have learned to tolerate my presence.

How special! Sounds like they are here to teach us something....we can all venture out, learn to fly, taken on the world and see how beautiful it can be.
i am not, nor ever have been, a witness.
i have a very dear friend who is a former (actually still is technically, as i understand it) witness and who is trying to adjust to existence in the "world.
" i am here on this site to better understand the hell she has been subjected to all her life and the hell she is and will still go through on her journey.

I'm speaking from experience....whatever you do, do not be pushy, negative or argumentive. You sound like you are very supportive....she definitely needs that now, but she needs to separate from the JW's on her own speed. By your listening and being there for her will help by giving her the strength she'll need to decide what she needs to do. Be kind and understanding.
When you separate from a familiar way of life, although abusive, it's like a part of you has died.....she'll need the time to mourn. It is also very, very frightening! She has trusted the organization for so long, to find out it's not what she was led to believe....the rug has been pulled from underneath her. It's like the wind being knocked out of you.
You may tactfully suggest she seek counseling for her abusive upbringing. This along with her brainwashing by the JW organization is a lot to deal with on her own. Let her know you're there for her, and show her that life and the world is not a scary place.

i was talking to a guy last week, and he suggested taking two advil and drinking a glass of milk as soon as you wake up.
somebody else i talked to suggested drinking ginger ale.
You're suppose to take some Advil BEFORE you go to bed.
for a short period of time i experienced the joys of dating within the organization.
here are two of my personal examples:.
i dated a guy for about a month who's mother (in her late 30s by the way) was supposedly of the "anointed".
I ended up marring the only JW I ever dated....met him when I was 16 and married when I was 22. He was 21 when I met him.....what he saw in a 16 yr old puzzles me. That was the worse and most stupid mistake I ever made!! Dating was very dificult when you have to be chapparoned and closely supervised all the time.
The best thing that did come out of it are my two beautiful children whom I adore more than anything else in this world!
